Bhojpur police arrest 3 persons for attacking convoy of CPI leader Kanhaiya Kumar

Ara : Bhojpur police arrested three persons including State Organization Secretary, Shiv Sena ,Vikramaditya Singh, on February 15, 2020, late evening, in connection with attack on convoy of former Jawahar Lal Nehru University Students Union President and CPI leader Kanhaiya Kumar.

Later, police sent Vikramadiya Singh and District President, Commercial Cell, Shiv Sena, Sanjay Prasad, to jail while Sunny Kumar who was injured, was admitted to Ara Sadar Hospital.

SHO, Gajrajganj police outpost, said that some persons attacked the convoy of Kanhaiya Kumar at Bigiganj on Ara-Buxar main road on February 14, 2020 when he was on way to Ara Ramana Maidan from Buxar to address a public meeting against CAA, NRC, and NPR. Kanhaiya Kumar had to flee away to escape injury but over two dozen persons including an ASI Heera Lal Rai were injured in the incident.

An FIR was lodged with Gajrajganj police outpost against 10 persons including Vikramaditya Singh, State Organization Secretary, Shiv Sena, Sanjay Prasad, District President, Commercial Cell, Shiv Sena, Shambhu Singh, District Head, Shiv Sena, Vikki, Anand, Sudhanshu Kumar, Sonu Kumar, Siddharth, Raju Kumar, and Dheeraj Kumar, activists of Shiv Sena, and 15 unnamed persons on the statement of the injured ASI Heera Lal Rai.

Police, on the basis of CCTV footage, identified the accused and arrested Vikramaditya Singh from Bahiro under Nawada police station, Ara, and Sanjay Prasad and Sunny Kumar from Mahadeva locality under Ara Town police station. The SHO further said that the miscreants were trying to flee from the scene after attacking Kanhaiya Kumar’s convoy in which some of them were injured. Police are conducting raids to arrest other accused, he said.

Kanhaiya Kumar was on ‘Jan-Gan-Man Yatra’ against CAA, NRC and NPR. He had started his campaign from Bhitharawa in West Champaran District recently. It will conclude at Patna.
