Ara  : Police, on a tip off, conducted raids in New Karman Tola locality under Nawada police station in Bhojpur district and seized 99 bottles of Indian Made Foreign Liquor (IMFL) and also arrested two liquor smugglers on June 27, 2017.

The arrested persons were identified as Vikas Kumar, son of Aas Pujan Sharma of Karman Tola, and Aniket Singh, son of Pramod Singh of New Karman Tola localities under Nawada Police Station. Later, the police forwarded them to jail.

SHO, Nawada police station, Neyaz Ahmad said that Suraj Prasad, son of Nand Kishore Prasad of New Karman Tola, was the main liquor smuggler but he managed to escape. The SHO said that now the liquor smugglers have changed their style of operation. They hire school and college students and pay them Rs 200 to Rs 500 per bag to supply liquor to the customers. The matter came to light after the arrest of two persons.

The SHO said Aniket Singh, son of Pramod Singh, a farmer of village Ekwari under Sahar police station, lives in a rented house of Ram Ji Rai in New Karman Tola for study. Aniket Singh was lured  to join this business for money for and the main liquor smuggler used him as a pawn. Vikas Kumar is also a student and he became courier for the liquor smuggler merely for money.

In another development, police seized 195 bottles of IMFL near Salempur mor under Dhobaha police outpost area on June 27 and also seized two motorcycles though the liquor smugglers managed to escape. SHO Dhobaha police outpost said that the liquor smugglers were going on their motorcycles to supply liquor to their customers but police intercepted them and seized the liquor. Seeing police, the liquor smuggler escaped leaving the motorcycles behind.
