Bhojpur DM orders for closure of schools until further order

Ara: Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar on January 8, 2018, ordered for suspension of teaching activities up to Standard XII in all private and government schools in Bhojpur district until further order in view of the severe cold wave sweeping the district. The DM had on January 4 suspended teaching activities up to Standard VIII in all private and government school uptotill further order.

Though the DM has ordered for closure of all the schools, the poor and homeless people have been left to fend for  themseves as the  district is reeling under the cold wave for the last 10 days. However, the Sun shine in the afternoon for about two hours on January 8 gave some respite from the cold. To escape the cold, several people from underprivileged classes are allegedly consuming countrymade liquor easily available despite prohibition. The cold wave has affected the standing crops of the farmers too. The people are forced to remain indoors.

DM Sanjeev Kumar had earlier directed the officials concerned to arrange for bonfire at Shivganj, Gopali Chowk, Sheesh Mahal Chowk, Subhash Chowk, Railway campus and Gandhi Kushth Aashram at Ara and almost all the nook and corner of Bhojpur district but the same is not visible anywhere.

Cardiologists including Ashok Kumar Pandey, B K Shukla, T P Singh and R Ojha have requested the people to save themselves from cold saying during winter incidents of heart attack, stroke and high blood pressure increase. The doctors said the low temperature causes narrowing of blood vessels which can be fatal for diabetics, heart, kidney and high blood pressure patients.
