Ara : Bhojpur District Magistrate (DM)  Sanjeev Kumar and Deputy Development Commissioner (DDC) Shubham Shubhankar on March 8, 2019, flagged off a rally Sevika-Sahayika under the banner of Integrated Child Development Scheme (ICDS), aimed at creating awareness among women about their voting rights to mark the International Women’s Day. The rally, flagged off from Krishi Bhawan, passed through the main thoroughfares of Ara town and culminated at Ramana Maidan.

District Public Relation Officer (DPRO) Pramod Kumar said that the rally was dedicated to woman voters. The participants in the rally urged the voters particularly women to cast their votes in the forthcoming parliamentary elections.

Bhojpur DM Sanjeev Kumar said that it is necessary to motivate all the eligible voters to their participation in the Lok Sabha elections 2019 scheduled to be held sometime in the month of April or May. He said that the Bhojpur district administration is making every effort to apprise the voters of their rights. He appealed the voters to excercise their franchise and added that the EVM and VVPAT would be used this time in the elections and the officials and other persons engaged in the election duty are being imparting training for the purpose. He said that the district administration is taking services of Aaganwadi centres, Education department, Nehru Yuva Kendra, ICDS, Schools, Zeevika didis, CDPOs, Department of Post, Supply department, Sports Unions, and others to motivate the people to cast their votes.

Under the banner of Bharatiya Janata Party Mahila Morcha, a meeting was held at a local hotel to mark the International Women’s Day on March 8. Deputy Mayor, Ara Municipal Corporation, Malti Devi, former minister Raghwendra Pratap Singh, former MLA Bhai Dinesh and others jointly inaugurated.

A seminar on ‘Woman empowerment and Self-dependence’ was organised on the occasion by Geeta Mahial Utthan Samiti and the Lok Jagriti Ara jointly at Karman Tola.

All India Students Association and the All India Progressive Woman Association took out a protest march from their office near Eastern Railway Crossing that passed through the main thoroughfares of the town and reached Ara railway station where they staged a day long dharan on March 8, 2019, demanding an impartial inquiry into all the shelter homes in Bihar and   resignation of CM Nitish Kumar.
