Ara : Head Assistant, District Transport Department office, Bhojpur, Shrawan Kumar, has been suspended for allegedly realising illegal money from truck drivers. Bhojpur DM Roushan Kushwaha has served show cause notice on the District Transport Officer (DTO), Bhojpur, Chitranjan Prasad, asking him to reply within two days as to why why he did not inform the department about it.
Head Assistant, DTO office, Shrawan Kumar, was realising illegal money from truck drivers under Narayanpur police station areas in his private vehicles in the name of DTO on August 5, 2020, and caught the drivers and owners who refused to pay him the amount. He snatched their mobiles so that they did not inform anyone.
The Bhojpur Truck Owners’ Association had given a two- day ultimatum to the Bhojpur DM demanding stern action against the guilty employees as well as the District Transport Officer failing which they would resort to agitation and statewide ‘Chakka Jam.’
Bhojpur DM directed ADM Kumar Manglam to inquire into the matter. The ADM found the Head Assistant Shrawan Kumar guilty and submitted report to the DM against him. The DM sent the inquiry report to the Headquarters, Transport Department, Patna. On the basis of Bhojpur DM’s report, the Principal Secretary, State Transport Department, suspended the Head Assistant, Bhojpur Transport department, with immediate effect and deputed him to the Transport Office at Aurangabad during suspension period.
Bhojpur DM held the Bhojpur DTO Chitranjan Prasad responsible for the collection of illegal amount from the trucks by his employee and issued a show cause notice on him. The DM said that the DTO had no control over his employees. Bhojpur SP also directed DSP, Piro, to inquire into the matter. Sources said that police might lodge an FIR in this connection.
