Bhojpur Dist Administration starts auction of sand ghats

Ara : Residents of Bhojpur district will now get relief from sand scarcity and sand labourers  willget back their jobs as at the district administration started auction of 56 sand ghats in the district on December 28, 2017.

Sand mining was banned for the last six months and sand labourers were rendered jobless while the businessmen suffered considerable loss. But after the order of Patna High Court, Bhojpur district administration has started auction of sand ghats. Elaborate security arrangements have been made around the Sanskritik Bhawan where the auction is taking place. The entire area has been cordoned off and even the mediapersons were not allowed to enter the Sanskritik Bhawan for news coverage.

Tenders were invited from the persons interested in taking Sand ghats on lease from all the 14 blocks in Bhojpur district and altogether 683 applications were received. After scrutiny, 603 applications were found valid for the 56 sand ghats. Four sand ghats in each 14 blocks have to be auctioned.
