Patna World No 22 Matteo Berrettini, 23, Italy, upset World No 17 Nikoloz Basilashvili, 27, Georgia, on June 18, 2019, evening, to enter the second round of Halle Open, Germany, an ATP World Tour 500 points grass court event.

Berrettini beat Basilashvili 6-4, 6-4 in the first round. Berrettini fired 10 Aces in the match to just 1 by Basulashvili. The Italian won 2 break points besides winning 3 games in a row. Berrettini will face Andreas Seppi, Italy, in the 2nd round.

Nine-time champion and top seed Roger Federer, 37, Switzerland, beat World No 57 John Millman, 30, Australia, 7-6, 6-3 to enter the 2nd round. Federer fired 9 Aces in the match to just 2 by Millman. Federer also won 3 games in a row.

World No 77 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 34, France, also entered the 2nd round beating World No 28 Benoit Paire, 30, France, 6-4, 7-5 in the first round. Tsonga fired 16 Aces in the match to 5 by Paire. Paire committed 6 double faults to 1 by Tsonga, who won 2 break points besides winning 3 games in a row. Tsonga will face Federer in the 2nd round.

Defending champion and World No 14 Borna Coric, 22, Croatia, beat World No 88 Jaume Munar, 22, Spain,7-6, 6-3 to enter the 2nd round of the tournament.

World No 20 Roberto Bautista Agut, 31, Spain, defeated World No 42 Taylor Fritz, 21, USA, 7-6, 6-0 to enter the 2nd round. Agut won 3 break points in the match besides winning 8 games in a row. Fritz fired 11 Aces in the match to 4 by Agut.
