Berdych, Tsonga enter 2nd round of Open Sud de France

Patna : The 2010 Wimbledon finalist and World No 79 in ATP rankings Tomas Berdych, 33, Czech Republic, and 2008 Australian Open finalist and World No 210 Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, 33, France, have entered the 2nd round of Open Sud de France, an ATP world tour 250 points tournament, at Montpellier, France.

Berdych beat World No 142 Matthias Bachinger, 31, Germany, in a three-set thriller 5-7, 6-3, 6-3 in the first round on February, 2019. Berdych hammered 11 Aces in the match to 3 by Bachinger. But, Berdych committed 8 double faults to 3 by Bachinger. He, however, won 6 break points to 4 by Bachinger. Berdych, who had reached the semi-finals of Australian Open in 2015 and 2015 besides US Open semi-finals in 2012, won 5 games in a row in the match to 3 by Bachinger.

Tsonga defeated World No 86 Ugo Humbert, 20, France, 3-6, 7-6, 6-4 in the first round on February 4, 2019. Tsonga, who had reached French Open semi-finals in 2013 & 2015 besides Wimbledon semi-finals in 2011 & 2012, fired 21 Aces in the match to 17 by Humbert. But, he also committed 8 double faults to 3 by Humbert. Both the players won 1 break point each in the match. Both of them also won 3 games each in a row in the match.

World No 72 Filip Krajinovic, 26, Serbia, beat World No 195 Nicolas Mahut, 37,  France, 7-6, 6-4 to enter the second round. Mahut though fired 10 Aces in the match to 7 by Krajinovic, who won a break point besides winning three games in a row in the match. Mahut had reached 4th round of Wimbledon in 2016. Krajinovic will face World No 21 and second seed David Goffin, 28, Belgium, in the second round.
