Patna : World No 79 in ATP rankings Tomas Berdych, 33, Czech Republic, beat World No 72 Filip Krajinovic, 26, Serbia, in a three-set thriller in the quarter-finals of Open Sud de France, an ATP World Tour 250 point tennis tournament, on February 8, 2019.

Berdych beat Krajinovic 7-6, 6-7, 7-5 at Palais des Sports de Gerland, Montpellier, France, to sail into the semi-finals on February 8. A surgent Berdych fired 13 Aces in the match to 12 by Krajinovic. Krajinovic committed 6 double faults to 3 by Berdych, the 2010 Wimbledon finalist. Berdych won 3 break points to 2 by Krajinovic. Berdych won 4 games in a row to 3 by his rival. Berdych had lost to World No 2 Rafael Nadal, 33, Spain in the Round of 16 in the Australian Open 2019.

World No 128 Marcos Baghdatis, 33, Cyprus, stunned top seed and defending champion Lucas Pouille, 24, France, in the Round of 16 on February 8. Baghdatis, the 2006 Australian Open finalist, beat World No 17 Pouille in a three-set encounter 7-6, 6-7, 6-4 to enter the quarter-finals of the tournament. Baghdatis, a qualifier, fired 12 Aces in the match to 9 by Pouille. Both the players committed 7 double faults each. Baghdatis won 5 break points to 4 by Pouille. Both of them also won 3 games each in a row in the match. Baghdatis will face Radu Albot, 29, Moldova, in the QFs on February 8 late night.
