Patna : World No 79 in ATP rankings and 2010 Wimbledon finalist Tomas Berdych, 33, Czech Republic, entered the quarter-finals of Open Sud de France, an ATP World Tour 250 points tournament, defeating World No 58 Benoit Paire, 29, France, in straight sets in the second round at Palais des Sports de Gerland, Montpellier, France, on February 6, 2019.

Berdych beat Paire 6-2, 6-0 winning 5 break points to storm enter the quarter-finals of the event. Berdych won 8 games in a row in the match. He served 2 Aces in the match to 3 by Paire, who committed 7 double faults.

World No 35 Jeremy Chardy, 31, France, also entered the quarter-finals of the tournament defeating World No 150 Antonie Hoang, 23, France, a qualifier, 6-3, 7-5 in the second round. Chardy fired 9 Aces in the match to 2 by Hoang. Chardy, however, committed 5 double faults in the match to just 1 by Hoang. But, Chardy won 4 break points to 1 by his rival. Chardy also won 4 games in a row in the match.
