New Delhi  : The Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu on February 5, 2018, lauded the campaign of Miss World Organisation for promoting women’s hygiene through use of biodegradable sanitary napkins, saying “It answers a big felt need of girls and women in India and elsewhere in the world”.

Miss World 2017 Ms Manushi Chillar, Chairperson of Miss World Organisation Ms Julia Morley and a delegation of makers of sanitary napkins in India on February 5 met Naidu and briefed him about their ”Epic Humanitarian World Tour” aimed at promoting hygiene among women, according to a PIB release.

Naidu said, ” The eco-friendly and affordable high quality sanitary pads highlights frugal innovation and the much desired holistic approach to development. I am glad to note that employment creation and restoring the dignity of women are commendable spinoffs of this enterprise. This initiative and the campaign is a combination of strengths of Beauty with Purpose and Freedom from Shame.”

Naidu further said there are beautiful individuals and dutiful persons but a blend of ”beauty and duty makes one mighty” and this is what Manushi Chillar exemplifies in lending her support to the cause of women.
