Patna : World No 16 and 4th seed Nikoloz Basilashvili, 27, Georgia, and World No 78 Andrey Rublev, 21, Russia, will clash in the final of Hamburg European Open, an ATP 500 points event, at Hamburg, Germany, on July 28, 2019.

Basilashvili upset World No 5 and 2nd seed Alexander Zverev, 22, Germany, in a three-set thriller 6-4, 4-6, 7-6 in 3 hr 7 minutes in the semi-finals on July 27, 2019. Zverev though fired 14 Aces in the match to 4 by the Georgian. Both the players committed 9 double faults each in the match. Both the players also won 4 break points each. Zverev won 5 games in a row to 3 by Basilashvili. But, Basilashvili won 76 service points to 67 by the German.

Rublev, who had defeated World No 4 and top seed Dominic Thiem, Austria, in the QFs, beat World No 59 Pablo Carreno Busta, 28, Spain, in a tough three-set contest 4-6, 7-5, 6-1 in 1 hr 51 minutes coming from behind in the semi-finals on July 27, 2019, evening. Rublev fired 11 Aces in the match to 5 by Busta. He also won 5 break points in the match to 3 by the Sspaniard. Rublev won 57 service points to 45 by Busta, who had stunned World N0 10 Fabio Fognini, 32, Italy, in the QFs on July 26, 2019.
