Patna : World No 1 Ashleigh Barty, 25, Australia, and World No 76 Jil Teichmann, 24, Switzerland, will clash in the final of Western & Southern Open, a WTA Masters tournament at Cincinati, Ohio, USA, on August 22, 2021, at 11. 30 pm.
Jil Teichmann defeated 5th seed Karolina Pliskova, 29, Czech Republic, in straight sets 6-2, 6-4 in semi-final on August 21, 2021, late night, winning 5 games in a row during the match. The Swiss also won 4 break points to 1 by the Czech. Both the players fired 4 Aces each during the match. Teichmann, in all, won 71 points during the match to 56 by Pliskova.
In the first semi-final the same day, Top seed Barty, the reigning Wimbledon champion, had defeated world No 22 Angelique Kerma, 33, Germany, the winner of 3 Grand Slam singles titles, 6-2, 7-5 to reach final.
