Barty, Stephens & Cori Gauff reach 3rd round of Wimbledon Championships

Patna : Top seed Ashleigh Barty, 23, Australia, 9th seed Sloane Stephens, 26, USA, teenage sensation Cori Gauff, 15, USA, the World No 313, entered the women’s singles third round of Wimbledon Championships at London, UK, on July 4, 2019.

Barty beat World No 58 Alison Van Uytvanck, 25, Belgium, 6-1, 6-3 in the second round. Barty won 5 break points to just 1 by Uytvanck. Barty won 5 games in a row in the match to 2 by Uytvanck.

World No 9 and 2017 US Open Champion Sloane Stephens swept aside World No 57 Wang Yafan, 25, China, 6-0, 6-2 in the second round. Stephens won 6 break points in  the match to 1 by Yafan. Stephens won 8 games in a row in the match to 2 by Yafan. The American won 28 service points to 14 by the Chinese.

Cori Gauff also known as Coco Gauff, who had stunned five-time former Wimbledon Champion Venus Williams, 39, USA,  in the first round, beat World No 139 Magdalena Rybarikova, 30, Slovak Republic,  6-3, 6-3 in the second round. Gauff won three break points in the match to none by Rybarikova. Gauff also won 3 games in a row in the match.
