Barty returns to World No 1 in WTA rankings, Bianca is World No 5

Patna : Ashleigh Barty, 23, Australia, has jumped one ladder to return to World No 1 with 6,501 points position in the WTA rankings released on September 9, 2019, while Naomi Osaka, 21, Japan, has slipped 3 places to be ranked  World No 4 with 4,846 points after failing to defend her US Open title and 2,000 points. Both Barty and Osaka had lost in the Round of 16 at US Open.

Karolina Pliskova, 27, Czech Republic, has jumped one place to be ranked World No 2 with 6,125 points. She had lost in the Round of 16 at US Open. Elina Svitolina, 24, Ukraine, has jumped 2 places to be ranked World No 3 with 5,032 points after reaching the semi-finals at US Open.

Bianca Andreescu, 19, Canada, has jumped 10 ladders to be ranked World No 5 with 4,835 points after winnings women’s singles title and 2,000 points at the US Open.

Reigning Wimbledon champion Simona Halep, 27, Romania, has slipped 2 places to be ranked World No 6 with 4,803 points after losing in the 2nd round at US Open in New York City, USA. Two-time former Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitoca, 29, Czech Republic, has slipped 1 place and is ranked World No 7 with 4,326 points.

Kiki Bertens, 27, Netherlands, and Serena Williams, 37, USA, have slipped one places each and are ranked World No 8 and World No respectively. Belina Bencic, 22, Switzerland, has jumped 2 places and is ranked World No 10 with 3,738 points after reaching the semi-finals at US Open. Johanna Konta, 28, Great Britain, has jumped 5 places to be ranked World No 11 with 3,115 points after reaching the quarter-finals atr US Open. Qiang Wang, 27, China, has jumped 6 places and is ranked World No 6 with 2,946 points after reaching QFs at US Open losing to Serena Williams.

Fiona Ferro, 22, France, has jumped 13 places to be World No 61 with 967 points after reaching 3rd round at US Open. Taylor Townsend, 23, USA, has jumped 33 places to be ranked World No 83 with 740 points after reaching Round of 16 at US Open. Kristie Ahn, 27, USA, has jumped 48 places to be ranked World No 93 with 641 points after reaching Round of 16 at US Open.

India No 1 Ankita Raina, 26, has jumped 2 ladders and is ranked World No 192 with 316 points. Cori Gauff, 15, USA, has jumped 34 places to be ranked World No 106 with 574 points after reaching 3rd round at US Open. Winner of 5 Grand Slam titles Maria Sharapova, 32, Russia, has slipped 48 places to be ranked World No 135 with 466 points after losing in the 1st round at US Open to Serena Williams.
