Patna : World No 2 and 2nd seed Ashleigh Barty, Australia, and World No 3 Karolina Pliskova, entered the women’s singles 2nd round at US Open at New York City, New York, USA, on August 26, 2019, night.

Barty beat World No 80 Zarina Diyas, Kazakhstan,  in three-sets 1-6, 6-3, 6-2 coming from behind. Barty fired 8 Aces in the match to none by Zarina. Both the players won 3 break points each. Zarina though won 5 games in a row to 3 by Barty. The Australian won 48 service points to 41 by Zarina.

Third seed Karolina Pliskova, Czech Republic, entered the women’s singles 2nd round of US Open at New York City, New York, USA, on August 26, 2019, night, defeating compatriot and World No 138 Tereza Martincova in the first round. Plikova beat Martincova 7-6, 7-6 at USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center, New York City, in a tough contest.

Third seed Pliskova fired 4 Aces in the match to 1 by Martincova. Both the players won 6 break points each. Pliskova though won 4 games in a row in the match to 3 by Martincova. Martincova committed 4 double faults to 2 by Pliskova.

World No 11 Anastasija Sevastova, Latvia, defeated World No 119 Eugenie Bouchard, Canada, 6-3, 6-3 in the first round. Sevastova won 5 break points in the match to 2 by the Canadian. She also won 4 games in a row in the match to 2 by Bouchard.
