Patna : Top seed Ashleigh Barty, 24, Australia, 2nd seed Naomi Osaka, 23, japan, 5th seed Elina Svitolina, 26, Ukraine, 7th Seed Aryna Sabalenka, 22, Belarus, 8th seed Bianca Andreescu, 20, Canada, and World No 58 Sara Sorribes Tormo, 24, Spain, have reached the quarter-finals at Miami Open at Florida, USA.

World No 1 Ashleigh Barty beat 14th seed Victoria Azarenka, Belarus, 31, Belarus, the winnwr of two Grand Slam singles titles, 6-1, 1-6, 6-2 in Round of 16 on March 29, 2021. Barty won 5 break points during the match to 3 by Azarenka. Both the players won 5 games each in a row in the match. Barty, in all, won 85 points to 77 points by Azarenka. The Australian also fired 6 Aces in the match to 2 by World No 15 Azarenka. Barty will face World No 8 Aryna Sabalenka in QFSs on March 30, 2021, late night.

World No 2 Naomi Osaka beat 16th  seed Elise Mertens, 25, Belgium, 6-3, 6-3 in Round of 16 on March 30, 2021, firing 3 Aces. Osaka, the winner of 4 Grand Slam singles titles, won 5 break points during the match to 2 by Mertens. She also won 4 games in a row in the match to 2 by Mertens. Mertens committed 9 double faults to 3 by Osaka. The Japanese, in all, won 70 points during the match to 54 by Mertens. Osaka will face 23rd seed Maria Sakkari, 25, Greece,  in QFs on March 31, 2021.

World No 58 Sara Sorribes Tormo beat 27th seed Ons Jabeur, 26, Tunisia,  in a three-set contest 6-4, 0-6, 6-1 in Round of 16 on March 30, 2021. Both the players won 5 break points each in the match. Jabeur though won 6 games in a row during the match to 4 by Tormo. The Spainiard, however, won 81 points in the match to 77 by the Greek. Tormo will face World No 9 Bianca Andreescu, the 2019 US Open Champion,  in QFs on March 31, 2021.

Bianca Andreescu beat 12th seed Garbine Muguruza, 27, Spain, 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 in Round of 16 battling back from one set down on March 30, 2021. The Canadian won 4 break points during the match to 2 by the Spainiard. She won 6 games in a row in the match to 3 by the World No 13 Spainiard. Both the players fired 3 Aces each during the match.

Fifth seed Elina Svitolina defeated two-time former Wimbledon Champion Petra Kvitova, 31, Czech bRepublic, 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 in Round of 16 on March 29, 2021.
