Patna : Top seed Ashleigh Barty, 23, Australia, and 7th seed Petra Kvitová, 29, Czech Republic, will clash in the women’s singles quarter-finals of China Open, a WTA Premier even, at Beijing, China, on October 4, 2019.

World No 1 Barty beat World No 39 Saisai Zheng, 25, China, in three-sets 6-3, 6-7, 6-2 in second round on October 2 to advance to the QFs of the event winning 3 break points besides winning 3 games in a row in the match. Barty fired 6 Aces in the match to just 1 by Zheng.

World No 7 Kvitova, the two-time former Wimbledon Champion, beat 8th seed and World No 10 Belina Bencic, 22, Switzerland, 6-3, 6-3 in second round. Kvitová hammered 13 Aces in the match to just 1 by Bencic. She also won 4 break points in the match to 1 by Bencic. Kvitová committed 6 double faults to 7 by Bencic.

World No 8 Kiki Bertens, 27, Netherlands, entered the QFs defeating World No 51 Polona Hercong, 28, Slovenia, 7-6, 2-6, 6-3 in second round. Both the players won 5 break points each in the match. Bertens won 3 games in a row in the match to 5 by Hercog. Bertens won 57 service points to 51 by Hercog.

Reigning US Open Champion and World No 5 Bianca Andreescu, 19, Canada, entered  the second round on October 2 beating World No 23 Elise Mertens, 23, Belgium, 6-3, 7-6. Both the players committed 7 double faults each in the match. Bianca won 5 break points to 4 by Mertens.

World No 66 Jennifer Brady, 24, USA, upset World No 15 Madison Keys, 24, USA, 2-6, 6-4, 6-4 to enter the 2nd round. Both the players won 4 break points each in the match. Brady won 57 service points to 53 by Keys. Keys though fired 9 Aces in the match to 4 by Brady. Keys won 6 games in a row in the match to 3 by Brady.
