Patna : Bangladesh were all out for 234 in 59.2 overs in their first innings of 1st test against New Zealand (NZ) at Seddon Park, Hamilton, New Zealand, on the first day of the play on February 28, 2019, opener Tamim Iqbal’s 126 in 128 balls with 21 fours and a six notwithstanding. NZ fast bowler Neil Wagner took 5/47 while Tim Southee took 3/76. Trent Boult and Colin de Grandhomme took one wicket each.

New Zealand won the toss but opted to bowl. At stumps on day 1, New Zealand were 86/0 in 28 overs with openers Jeet Raval and Tom Latham batting on 51 and 35 runs respectively.

Batting first, Bangladesh openers Tamim Iqbal and Shadman Islam added 57 runs for the first wicket. Shadman fell to Boult for 24 making it 57/1. Iqbal then added 64 runs with Mominul Haque for the second wicket. Mominul fell to Wagner for 12 while Mohammad Mithun fell to Wagner for 8 making it 147/3.  Soumya Sarkar fell to Southee for 1 making it 149/4. Tamim Iqbal fell to Grandhomme when the NZ score was 180. Bangladesh Captain Mahmudullah fell to Wagner for 22 making it 207/6. Wicketkeeper Liton Das also fell to Wagner for 29.
