Patna : Bangladesh beat West Indies (WI) by 5 wickets in the 1st ODI at Shere Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, on December 9, 2018, riding on an unbeaten 55 in 70 ball with 5 fours by wicketkeeper by Mushfiqur Rahim and 41 in 57 balls with 5 fours by opener Liton Das. All-rounder Shakib Al Hasan scored 30 in 26 balls with 4 fours while Soumya Sarkar scored 19. Opener Tamim Iqbal was out for 12. Set a target of  196, Bangladesh scored 196/5 in 35.1 overs to win the first ODI.

For West Indies, Roston Chase took 2/47 while fast bowler Oshane Thomas took 1/34. Keemo Paul and Rovman Powell took one wicket each.

Earlier, opting to bat after winning the toss, West Indies scored 195/9  in 50 overs with wicketkeeper Shai Hope scoring 43 with 3 fours, Roston Chase 32 in 38 balls with a four and a six, and pacer Keemo Paul 36 in 28 balls with a four and 2 sixes. Marlon Samuels scored 25 in 48 balls with 2 fours.

For Bangladesh, Mustafizur Rahman took 3/35 while captain Mashrafe Mortaza took 3/30. Mehidy Hasan, Shakib Al Hasan, and Rubel Hossain took one wicket each.
