Patna : Bangladesh defeated West Indies by 36 runs in the 2nd T20I at Shere  Bangla National Stadium, Dhaka, Bangladesh, on December 20, 2018, night, to pull the three-match T20I series level at 1-1. Bangladesh captain and all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan was declared Player of the Match for taking 5/20 in 4 overs and scoring an unbeaten 42 in 26 balls with 5 fours and a six. West Indies had won the toss but opted to bowl.

Batting first Bangladesh scored 211/4 in 20 overs with opener Liton Das scoring 60 in 34 balls with 6 fours and 4 sixes and Mahmudullah an unbeaten 43 in 21 balls with 7 fours. Soumya Sarkar scored 32 in 22 balls with 3 fours and a six while opener Tamim Iqbal made 15 in 16 balls. Wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim made 1. For West Indies, fast bowler Sheldon Cottrell took 2/38, Oshane Thomas 1/43, and Fabian Allen 1/29.

Chasing a target of 212, West Indies were all out for 175 runs in 19.2 overs with wicketkeeper Shai Hope scoring 36 in 19 balls with 6 fours and Rovman Powell scoring 50 in 34 balls with 5 fours and a six. Keemo Paul scored 29 in 16 balls with 1 four and 2 sixes. Explosive opener Evin Lewis was out for 1 to Abu Hider Rony while Shimron Hetmyer fell to Shakib Al Hasan for 19 in 17 balls with a four and a six. Nicholas Pooran made 14 and Darren Bravo 2. Captain Carlos Brathwaite fell to Shaib for 7.

For Bangladesh, Shakib Al Hasan took 5 wickets while Mustafizur ahman took two wickets. Abu Hider, Mehidy Hasan, and Mahmudullah took one wicket each.
