Bangladesh beat SL by 2 wickets to reach Nidahas Trophy final

Patna : Bangladesh defeated Sri Lanka by two wickets in the Nidahas Trophy T20 tri-series match at R Premadasa Stadium, Colombo, Sri Lanka, on March 16, 2018, night, riding on a quickfire unbeaten 43 in 18 balls M Mahmudullah with 3 fours and 2 sixes. With it Bangladesh reached the final of Nidahas Trophy tri-series where they will play India on March 18.

Asked to bat first by Bangladesh who won the toss, Sri Lanka scored 159/7 in 20 overs riding on 61 in 40 balls with 7 fours and a six by wicketkeeper Kusal Perera and 58 in 37 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes by Captain Thisara Perera.

Bangladesh scored 160/8 with one ball to spare. Bangladesh needed 12 runs in the 20th over but suffered two run outs on the first two balls of the over. But, Mahmudullah scored 12 runs in the next three balls taking the score to 160/8. Opener Tamim Iqbal also scored 50 in 42 balls with 4 fours and 2 sixes while wicketkeeper Mushfiqur Rahim made 28 in 25 balls hitting 2 fours. Bangladesh Captain Shakib Al Hasan made only 7 runs.

It was Bangladesh’s second successive victory over Sri Lanka in the tournament. Sri Lanka could win only one match in the tournament against India. India have won both their matches against Bangladesh and one against SriLamka.
