Patna : Chasing a target of 398 runs, Bangladesh were 136/6 after 44.2 overs at stumps on rain interrupted Day 4 in their 2nd innings of the one-off test against Afghanistan at Zahur Ahmed Chowdhury Stadium, Chattogram, Bangladesh, on September 8, 2019, with all-rounder Shakib Al Hasan unbeaten on 39 in 46 balls hitting 4 fours and Soumya Sarkar yet to open his account.
Bangladesh need 262 runs on Day 5 to win the test with only 4 wickets in hand. Afghanistan, on the other hand, are just 4 wickets away from their biggest win international cricket. Bangladesh openers Liton Das and Shadman Islam scored 9 and 41 runs respectively while Mosaddek Hossain scored 12. Mushfiqur Rahim scored 23 in 25 balls with 4 fours while Mominul Haque made 3, both falling to spinner Rashid Khan (captain). Mahmudullah also fell to Rashid Khan for 7.
Rashid Khan has so far taken 3/46 while Zahir Khan has taken 2/36. Mohammad Nabi, who has announced his retirement from test cricket after this test, took 1/38.
Afghanistan had scored 342 runs in their first innings and 260 runs the second innings. Bangladesh had scored 205 runs in their first innings.
