Patna: Bihar cabinet on Wednesday decided to upgrade Bakhtiarpur Nagar Panchayat in Patna district to Nagar Parishad. Bakhtiarpur is birth place of CM Nitish Kumar.
Among the 17 decisions taken by the cabinet, sanction of Rs 462.92 crore as grants to 140 civic bodies based on the recommendations of the fifth state finance commission was prominent. Other decisions included allotment of Rs 334.45 crore for the national health mission, Rs 235.15 crore for skill development mission, one year contract extension fo 234 civil engineers working in water resources development department since 2009 and approval of the syllabus passed by Aryabhatt Knowledge Univefsity (AKU), Patna.
