Patna : Bajrang Punia, 24, clinched gold medal in men’s 65 kg freestyle wrestling event at Gold Coast Commonwealth Games (CWG) on April 13, 2018, increasing India’s gold medal tally to 17. India won three gold, 4 silver and 4 bronze medals on April 13, 2018,

A native of village Khudan in Jhajjar district of Haryana, Bajrang Punia, an Indian railway employee, defeated Kane Charig, Wales, in the gold medal round by technical superiority. He had won silver medal in 2014 Glasgow CWG in 61 kg freestyle category. Punia began wrestling at the age of seven.
