Sitamarhi : With decline in rainfall intensity during last 36 hours, the people Sitamarhi district had some respite on July 27, 2020, from the flood. Only river Bagmati is still maintaining rising trend near Dheng but the embankments are safe. Constant vigil is on by the district administration on all the river embankments.
Rivers such as Lalbakeya, Jhim, Marar, Marha, Adhawara group, Rato, and Lakhadei are slowly receding but still flowing above danger marks. Road connectivity has not yet been restored between Sitamarhi -Sursand, Sitamarhi-Parihar, Sitamarhi -Sheohar, Lagma-Bhasepur, and Singrahia-Baduri.
Meanwhile, many social workers and peoples’ representatives have charged circle officers of different blocks with bias in preparing the list of flood victims, sufferers, and crop loss. They wonder as to why the entire district has been declared as flood ravaged so that each family receives compensation from the government.
