Dhanbad ( Jharkhand) : BJP MLA from Baghmara in Dhanbad District in Jharkhand Dhullu Mahto, who was wanted in more than two dozen cases pending with Barora and Katras police stations against whom a warrant was pending since February 16, 2020, finally surrendered before the court of Sub-Divisional Judicial Magistrate, Dhanbad, Sangita Kumari , on May 11, 2020, morning. The court while rejecting his bail plea sent him to Dhanbad jail.
Earlier anticipatory bail petition of MLA Dhullu Mahto was rejected by Ranchi High Court. Several criminal cases including of alleged kidnapping, extortion besides rape are pending against Dhullu Mahto alias Tiger for the last several years but as he was allegedly close to the then Jharkhand CM Raghubar Das, police did not play an active role in his arrest. But, after change of government and mounting police pressure Dhullu Mahto on May 11, 2020, surrendered before the court. The BJP MLA was evading arrest for the last couple of months.
