Bagaha cane growers get major relief

Bagaha : Sugarcane growers of riverine areas of river Gandak on February 6 got a major relief as henceforth they would not have to give toll tax for crossing the pontoon bridge with their carts carrying cane.

The sugarcane growers had a meeting with Tirupati Sugar Ltd , Bagaha, General Managaer ( Cane) Vinod Yadav in the presence of SDM, Bagaha, at the latter’s official chamber on February 6 where it was decided that no toll tax would be charged from the carts carrying sugarcane for crossing the pontoon bridge to reach the sugar mill.

So far the contractor was charging Rs 20 each cart. The sugarcane growers were led by Surendra Kushwaha and Banarasi Yadav. Tirupati Sugar Ltd will maintain the pontoon bridge. But, the contrctor will collect tax from other other carts and vehicles crossing the pontoon bridge. The cane growers were protesting toll tax for the last several days.
