Patna : Unseeded Victoria Azarenka, 31, Belarus, won the women’s singles title at 2020 Western & Southern Open tennis tournament at Newyork, USA, on August 29, after 4th seed and former World No 1 Naomi Osaka, 22, retired due to injury before their final match.
It is Azarenka’s first title since 2016. She is also a former World No 1 having won the Australian Open championship twice. She had also won Western & Southern Open title in 2013.
Osaka is a former US and Australian Open champion. She had won US Open title in 2018 and the Australian Open i n 2019.
