Axelsen will face World No 21 Kunlavut Vitidsarn, 20, Thailand, in final on December 5, 2021. Kunlavut defeated World No 8 Lee Zii Jia, 23, Malaysia, in straight games in semi-finals.
Axelsen, the 2017 World Champion, thumped defeated Lakshya Sen in straight games 21-13, 21-11 in semi-finals in 39 minutes on December 4, 2021. The Dane won 42 points during the match to 24 points by the India. Axelsen won 10 consecutive points during the match to 3 points by Lakshya. Axelsen had also defeated Lakshya in straight games in Group stage match on December 2, 2021.
