Patna : Australia were all out for 467 in 155.1 overs in their first innings in the 2nd test against New Zealand (NZ) on Day 2 on December 27, 2019, with Travis Head scoring 114 in 234 balls hitting 12 fours, his 2nd test ton, and Captain Taim Paine ( wk) scoring 79 in 138 balls with 9 fours. Steven Smith fell to fast medium bowler Neil Wagner for 85 in 242 balls with 8 fours and a six. Australia lead 1-0 in the three-match test series.
Neil Wagner, who had taken 7 wickets in the 1st test, took 4/83 in 38 overs while Tim Southee, who had taken 9 wickets in 1st test, took 3/103 in 33.1 overs. Colin de Grandhomme took 2/68 while Trent Boult took 1/91.
Travis Head and Tim Paine added 150 runs for the 6th wicket. Paine fell to Wagner while Mitchell Starc fell to Southee for 1 making it 435/7. Head also fell to Wagner making it 458/8. Pat Cummins also fell to Southee for a duck and it was 463/9.Nathan Lyon also fell to Southee for 1.
In reply, NZ were 31/1 after 10 overs in the 3rd session of play trailing by 438 runs. Opener Tom Blundell fell to fast bowler Pat Cummins for 15 in 19 balls with 2 fours.
