Patna : Rain and bad light affected the play on day 4 of the 4th and final test between India and Australia at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney, Australia, on January 6, 2019. Only 25.2 overs were bowled on the day during which Australia were all out for 300 in 104.5 overs with spinner Kuldeep Yadav taking 5/99, his second five-wicket haul in tests.

Play was not possible in the first session due to rain. India, who had declared their first innings at 622/7, enforced the follow on and Australia were 6/0 in 4 overs in their second innings when rain and bad light again stopped the play in the second session forcing umpires to call early tea break. As there was no improvement in light, play was finally called off. Australia trail by 316 runs. India lead the four-match test series 2-1.
