Patna : Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Australia made 293/6 in 50 overs against India in the third ODI at Holkar Cricket Stadium, Indore, on September 24, 2017, with opener Aron Finch smashing 124 off 125 balls, his 8th ODI century, and skipper Steven Smith scoring 63. David Warner hit 42. M Stoinis remained unbeaten on 27. Finch had not played in the first two ODI due to injury.

For India, Jusprit Bumrah took 2/52 while Kuldip Yadav took 2/75. Hardik Pandya and Y Chahal took one wicket each. At one stage, when Finch and Smith were batting together, it appeared Australia would easily score 350 plus runs but Kuldip Yadav and  Chahal brought India back into the game by taking three wickets between them. Australia were 216/1 after 36th over. Finch and Smith were involved in 154 run partnership.
