Patna : Australia hammered India by 51 runs in the high scoring 2nd ODI at Sydney Cricket Ground, Sydney, Australia, on November 29, 2020, to take an unassailable 2-0 lead in the three-match series. Electing to bat after winning the toss, Australia piled up 389/4 in 50 overs with Steven Smith scoring 104 in 64 balls with 14 fours and 2 sixes, his back to back century, opener David Warner scoring 89, and Marnus Labuschagne scoring 70 runs. Captain Aaron Finch scored 60 runs while all-rounder Glenn Maxwell remained unbeaten on 63 in 29 balls hitting 4 fours and 4 sixes.
In reply, India could score only 338/9 in 50 overs with captain Virat Kohli scoring 89 in 87 balls with 7 fours and 2 sixes and opener Lokesh Rahul (wk) scoring 76 in 66 balls hitting 4 fours and 5 sixes. This was India’s 5th successive defeat in ODI since 2016.

India began the chase well with its openers Shikhar Dhawan and Mayank Agarwal adding 58 runs for the first wicket. But, both of them fell in quick succession. Dhawan fell to Hazlewood for 30 while Agarwal fell to Cummins for 28 making it 60/2. Kohli and Shreyas Iyer added 93 runs for the 3rd wicket. Iyer fell Henriques for 38 making it 153/3. Kohli fell to Hazlewood making it 225/4. Lokesh Rahul, who played a brilliant knock, fell to Adam Zampa for 76 and it was 288/5.
Ravindra Jadeja scored 24 in 11 balls hitting 1 four and 2 sixes. He fell to Cummins and it was 321/6. Hardik Pandya also fell to Cummins at the same score making it 321/7. Shami fell to Maxwell for 1 and it was 326/8. Bumrah fell to Zampa for zero and it was 328/9. Saini remained unbeaten on 10.
