Patna : Australia crushed India by 10 wickets in an extremely one-sided 1st ODI at Wankhede Stadium, Mumbai, on January 14, 2020, with opener David Warner scoring an unbeaten 128 in 112 balls hitting 17 fours and 3 sixes, his 18th ODI ton, and his opening partner Aaron Finch (captain) scoring an unbeaten 110 in 114 balls with 13 fours and 2 sixes, his 16th ODI century. Warner and Finch took the Indian bowlers to cleaners giving a lesson in batting to the hosts. Australia have now taken 1-0 lead in the three-match series. Warner was declared Player of the Match.
Chasing a target of 256, Australia scored 258/0 in just 37.4 overs pulverising an overconfident Indian bowling attack. It was India’s 3rd successive defeat in ODI at Wankhede Stadium. Australia have now defeated India in 4 ODIs in a row in India.
Earlier, India were all out for 255 in 49.1 overs with opener Shikhar Dhawan scoring 74 in 91 balls with 9 fours and a six and Lokesh Rahul scoring 47 in 61 balls with 4 fours. Dhawan and Rahul added 121 runs for the 2nd wicket. Opener Rohit Sharma fell to fast Mitchell Starc for 10 while Captain Virat Kohli fell to spinner Adam Zampa for 16.
Rishabh Pant scored 28 while all-rounder Ravinder Jadeja scored 25. Pant and Jadeja added 49 runs for the 6th wicket. Mohammad Shami and Kuldeep Yadav added 26 runs for the 9th wicket. Kuldeep Yadav (17) was run out.
For Australia, Mitchell Starc took 3/56 while Pat Cummins took 2/44 and Kane Richardson 2/43. Adam Zampa and Ashton Agar took one wicket each.
