Patna : Australia defeated Sri Lanka (SL) by 5 wickets in an ICC World Cup warm-up at The Rose Bowl, Southampton, England, on May 27, 2019, night, with opener Usman Khwaja scoring 89 in 105 balls hitting 3 fours, Shaun Marsh scoring 34 in 46 balls, Glen Maxwell 36, and Marcus Stoinis 32.

Alex Carey (wk) remained unbeaten on 18 in 26 balls with 2 fours while Pat Cummins was 9 not out. Replying to SL’s 239/8 in 50 overs, Australia scored 241/5 in 44.5 overs. For SL, Jeffrey Vandersay took 2/51 in 7.5 overs.

Earlier opting to bat after winning the toss, SL scored 239/8 with opener Lahiru Thirimanne scoring 56 in 69 balls hitting 7 fours and Dhananjaya de Silva scoring 43 in 41 balls with 4 fours. Kusal Mendis made 24 while Thisara Perera made 27. Jeevan Mendis scored 21.

For Australia, spinner Adam Zampa took 2/39 in 9 overs while Nathan Lyon took 1/48 in 8 overs. Fast bowlers Mitchell Starc, Pat Cummins, and Kane Richardson took one wicket each. Glen Maxwell and Steve Smith also took one wicket each.
