Patna : Australia defeated Sri Lanka (SL) by 366 runs in the 2nd test on the 4th day of the match at Manuka Oval, Canberra, Australia, on February 4, 2019, to win the two-match test series 2-0. Chasing a target of 516 runs, Sri Lanka were all out for just 149 in 51 overs in  their second innings with fast bowler Mitchell Starc taking 5/46 in 18 overs while Pat Cummins took 3/15 in 8 overs. Jhye Richardson and Marnus Labuschagne took one wicket each. Starc was named Player of the Match for taking 10 wickets (10/100) in the match while Pat Cummins was named Player of the series. Australia had won the toss and opted to bat.

Batting first, Australia had declared their first innings at 534/5 with opener Joe Burns scoring 180, Travis Head 161, and Kurtis Patterson an unbeaten 114. Sri Lanka scored 215 in their first innings with openers Dimuth Karunaratne and  Lahiru Thirimanne scoring 59 and 41 runs respectively. Australia declared their second innings at 196/3 with Usman Khawaja scoring an unbeaten 101, his 8th test ton.

With Starc bowling a fiery spell averaging a speed of 151.3 kmph, Sri Lanka were all out for just 149 in their second innings with Kusal Mendis scoring 42, opener Lahiru Thirimanne 30, and wicketkeeper Niroshan Dickwella 27. Captain Dinesh Chandimal, who had scored 15 in the first innings, fell to Starc for 4. Starc had also claimed his wicket in the first innings.
