Patna : Australia beat India by 7 wickets in the 2nd T20I at M Chinnaswamy Stadium, Bengaluru, Karnataka, with all-round Glen Maxwell scoring a brilliant unbeaten 113 in 55 balls hitting 7 fours and 9 sixes. Chasing a target of 191, Australia scored 194/3 in 19.4 overs to win the two-match series 2-0. Maxwell blitzkrieg won the match for Australia. He had scored fifty plus in the 1st T20I as well. Australia won the toss but opted to bowl. Maxwell was named Player of the Match.

This was first series loss at home for Captain Virat Kohli across formats. Australia won the toss but opted to bowl. Kohli praised the batting of Maxwell.

Barring Vijay Shankar ( 2/38) and Krunal Pandya ( 0/33) none of the India bowlers including Jasprit Bumrah impressed. Maxwell and opener D Arcy Short, who scored 40 in 28 balls with 6 fours, took the Indian bowlers to the cleaner. Opener Marcus Stoinis fell to fast bowler Siddarth Kaul for 7 while captain Aaron Finch fell to Vijay Shankar for 8.

Earlier, batting first India had scored 190/4 with captain Virat Kohli scoring 72 in 38 balls with 2 fours and 6 sixes, Lokesh Rahul 47 in 26 balls with 3 fours and 4 sixes, and M S Dhoni 40 in 23 balls with 3 fours and 3 sixes. India had rested Rohit Sharma for the match.
