Patna : Australia defeated England by 185 runs in the 4th Ashes Test at Emirates Old Trafford, Manchester, UK, on September 8, 2019, night, taking an unbeatable 2-1 lead in the five-match series and retaining the Ashes. Chasing a target of 383, England were all out for 197 runs in 91.3 in the final hour of the play on Day 5.

All-rounder Craig Overton and spinner Jack Leach resisted the Australian bowlers for nearly 14 overs after the tea. Overton fell to fast bowler Josh Hazlewood for 21 in 105 ballswith 2 fours while Leach fell to part-time spinner Marnus Labuschagne for 12 in 51 balls hitting 1 four. Opener Joe Deny scored 53, Jason Roy 31, Jonny Barstow 25, and Jos Buttler 34.

For Australia, Pat Cummins took 4/43, Josh Hazlewood 2/31, and Nathan Lyon 2/51.Mitchell Starc andMarnus Labischagne took one wicket each.

Australia had declared their first innings at 497/8 and second at 186/6. England scored 301 in their first innings and 197 in second innings suffering a humiliating defeat.
