Patna : Australia defeated Bangladesh (BAN) by 8 wickets in a Group 1 match of ICC T20 World Cup at Dubai International Cricket Stadium, Dubai, UAE, on November 4, 2021, as leg spinner Adam Zampa took 5/19 in 4 overs while fast bowlers Mitchell Starc and Josh Hazlewood took two wickets each. Adam Zampa was named Player Of The Match. It was Bangladesh’s fifth defeat in as many games. Australia had won the toss and opted to bowl.
Chasing a target of 74 runs, Australia scored 78/2 in 6.2 overs only with captain Aaon Finch ( opener) scoring 40 in 20 balls hitting 2 fours and 4 sixes. Finch fell to fast bowler Taskin Ahmed making it 58/1. His opening partner David Warner fell to fast medium bowler Shoriful Islam for 18 runs in 14 balls with 3 fours making it 67/2. All-rounder Mitchell Marsh remained unbeaten on 16 in 5 balls hitting 2 fours and 1 six.
Batting first, BAN were all out for 73 runs only in 15 overs with Shamim Hossain scoring 19 and captain Mahmudullah scoring 16 runs. Opener Mohd Naim scored 17 runs.
