Patna : Australia were all out for 416 in 146.2 overs in their first innings in the 1st Test against New Zealand (NZ) at tea on Day 2 on December 13, 2019, with fast medium bowler Neil Wagner taking 4/92 in 37 overs and medium fast bowler Tim Southee taking 4/93 in 30.4 overs.

Resuming at their overnight score of 248/4, Australia added another 168 runs losing six wickets on Day 2. Captain & wk Tim Paine was the last Australian batsman to get out. He fell to Tim Southee for 39 in 105 balls with 2 fours. Paine and fast bowler Mitchell Starc added 45 runs for the 8th wicket. Starc fell to Southee for 30 in 41 balls with 3 fours and a six. Marnus Labuschagne scored 143 in 240 balls with 18 fours and a six, his third century in a row. Tarvis Head scored 56 in 97 balls with 10 fours.
