Patna : Australia were 53/4 in 26 overs in their second innings at stumps on the third day of the second Ashes Test against England at Adelaide Oval, Adelaide, Australia, on December 4, 2017, with both P Handscomb and N Lyon on 3 not out each. England now trail Australia by 268 runs.

For England, C Woakes took 2/13 in seven overs including the wicket of Australian captain Steven Smith for 6 and David Warner for 14 while James Anderson took 2/16 in 11 overs seven of which were maiden.

Earlier, replying to Australia’s 442/8 declared in their first innings, England were all out for 227 in 76.1 overs in their first innings with number Craig Overton, fast bowler, making 41. Nathan Lyon took 4/60 becoming the highest wicket takers in 2017 with 55 wickets while Mitchell Starc took 3/49. But, Australia did not enforce the follow on, a decision Steven Smith would perhaps regret as Australia quickly lost lost four wickets in their second essay.
