Patna : Marnus Labuschagne scored an unbeaten 110 in 202 balls with 14 fours and a six as Australia reached 248/4 at stumps on Day1  in their first innings in 1st test against New Zealand (NZ), a D/N test, at Perth Stadium, Perth, Australia, on December 12, 2019. It was Labuschagne’s third test century that too on the trot. Labuschagne hit a six to notch up his 3rd century in successive tests. NZ bowlers, however, did not allow Australian batsmen to score fluently. Australia scored 76 runs in first session of play.

Electing to bat after winning the toss, Australia lost their first wicket  that of opener Joe Burns at 40. Joe fell to fast medium bowler Colin de Grandhomme for 9. Opener David Warner fell to fast medium bowler Neil Wagner for 43 in 74 balls with 4 fours and it was 75/2. Marnus Labuschagne and Steven Smith added 132 runs for the third wicket. Smith fell to Wagner for 43 in 164 balls with 4 fours and it was 207/3. Matthew Wade fell to pacer Tim Southee for 12 making it 225/4. Travis Head is unbeaten on 20 in 34 balls with 4 fours.

For NZ, Neil Wagner has taken 2/52 in 22 overs while Tim Southee has taken 1/53 in 20 overs. Colin de Grandhomme has taken 1/24 in 16 ovrers.
