Patna : Australia entered the ICC Under-19 World Cup Cricket final defeating Afghanistan by six wickets in the semi-finals at Hagley Oval, Christchurch, New Zealand, on January 29, 2018. Australia will play the winner of the second semi-finals between India and Pakistan scheduled for January 30 in the final. The final is scheduled for February 3, 2018, at Mount Manganui, New Zealand.
Electing to bat first after winning the toss, Afghanistan were all out for 181 in 48 overs with Ikram Alil Khil making 80 in 119 balls hitting 8 fours and opener Rahmanullah scoring 20. Nisar Wahdat made 11 while Mujeeb remained not out on 12. Captain Naveen ul Haq made 8. For Australia, pacer Jonathan Merlo took 4/24 while Zak Evans took 2/26. Ryan Hadley, J Edwards, W Sutherland,and Lloyd Pope took one wicket each.
Australia made 182/4 in 37.3 overs with J Edwards making 72 in 65 balls hitting 8 fours and 2 sixes. P Uppal remained unbeaten on 32 in 47 balls hitting 4 fours while N A McSweeney remained not out on 22 in 39 balls hitting 2 fours. Australia Captain J J S Sangha made 26 in 38 balls. For Afghanistan, Qais Ahmad took 2/35.
