Patna: The Aurangabad district administration is geared up maintain law and order during celebrations of Dussehra
this year. Besides putting ban on bursting of crackers including high-powered ones, the district administration has also decided to keep an eye over different social sites.
Aurangabad DM Kawal Tanuj said that violation of norms would tatamount to legal action against the violators. He said that he has directed the officials to keep a close watch on the shops selling crackers during Dussehra. The DM opined that bursting of crackers not only pollute the environment, it also causes anxiety among the people particularly senior citizens. He urged the people to cooperate with officers particularly in handling trouble-mongers during the Puja.
Police have banned the entry of heavy vehicles in the town for three days starting from Maha Aastmi day (Sunday).
Sadar SDPO P N Sahu said that besides the regular force, additional policemen numbering 986 including 300 Homeguard jawans would be deployed to maintain law and order during the festival period. He said that two company of CRPF and one company of Shasastra Seema Bal (SSB) have been requisitioned. These para-military men would be deployed in naxal-infested areas of the district, he added.
Sahu said that 240 female constables would also be deployed for the security of female devotees as cases of chain snatching and eve teasing are reported from different areas during the Puja. He said that the SHOs of 29 police stations and the officials manning different check- posts have been put on maximum alert. Police patrolling would be intensified during the Puja.
