Ara: An ASI Om Prakash Paswan shot himself with his service revolver during duty hour on Friday morning. Later, the police brought him over to Ara Sadar Hospital but the doctor declared him brought dead. He was a resident of Labhgaon village under Khagaria police station in Khagaria district and posted in Bhojpur district. His family members have been informed about the incident and they have rushed to Ara. The doctor said that after post-mortem, the body would be handed over to police for further action.
ASI Om Prakash Paswan was posted at Krishnagarha police station under Barahara block in Bhojpur district but was was reportedly very disturbed and frustrated of late. He came on duty as usual and got involved in day to day work. Suddenly, he came out of his chamber and shot himself with his service revolver and fell down on the floor of the police station. All police personnel were shocked over the incident and immediately rushed him to Ara Sadar Hospital but the doctor declared him brought dead. It was said that he was under depression due to work load.
Bhojpur SP Kshatranil Singh confirmed suicide by the ASI but said that the reason behind it was not clear so far. An inquiry is being ordered and it would be too early to say anything about the reason behind the suicide till inquiry report comes, he said.
Meanwhile, Bhai Dinesh, former MLA from Jagdishpur, dashed off a the chief minister demanding thorough inquiry into the death of the ASI.
