Motihari : Ranjit Das, a Sashastra Seema Bal (SSB), 74 Battalian, ASI, committed suicide on January 1, 2021, by hanging himself to a Litchi tree at Government Agriculture Farm near SSB Headquarters at Pipra Kothi, 11 km away from Motihari town, Headquarters of East Champaran District in North Bihar.
Pipra Kothi police sent the body for postmortem to Sadar Hospital, Motihari. Vijay Kumar Isser, Deputy Commandant, 74 Battalian, SSB, said that Ranjit Das was a resident of Tinsukia in Assam and was posted at Pipra Kothi for the last three years. He was on leave of 15 day and had returned from home to SSB Headquarters at Pipra Kothi on December 11 ,2020, said the SSB, Deputy Commandant.
According to police, a grass cutter saw a man hanging to a Litchi tree at a farm adjacent to SSB office on Janjuary 1, 2021, motrning, and informed police. Later, SSB officials identified the deceased. Police are investigating the the case.
