Ara : Health services in all the 14 blocks in Bhojpur district remain affected as the indefinite strike by the Accredited Social Health Activist (ASHA)  and Mamata workers of all the 85 Aganbadi centres in the district under the banner of ‘Asha Sangharsh Samiti’ to press their 12-point demand. The strike continued for the 19th day on December 19, 2018. Patients have to face a lot of problems in getting medical aid at the Primary Health Centres and other health centres in the district.

The Asha and Mamata workers took out processions at every block on December 19 raising slogans against the Bihar government and also staged a day long dharna at the gate of Child Development Project Officers (CDPO). They did not allow a single patient to enter the health centres and staged dharana at the gate of health centres. Their main demands include remuneration up to Rs 18,000 and status of a government employee.

Speaking on the occasion, Indu Singh, District Secretary, All India Progressive Women Association (AIPA), said that the government is spending crores of rupees on salary of the MLAs, MLCs, MPs but remains indifferent to the problems facing Asha and Mamata workers.
