Buxar : Two liquor smugglers: Santosh Kumar and Vijay Kumar Tatwa, arrested by Buxar police on June 13, 2017, with 272 cartons of IMFL kept in a pick-up van on Ver Kuer Singh bridge, have revealed that before senior police officials that  money was being realised from them at three points to let them continue their liquor smuggling business.

After that the police officers arranged for TI parade and Vijay Kumar Tatwa immediately identified a constable Rajesh Kumar posted at Veer Kuer Singh Bridge. The constable was immediately taken into custody and a committee was formed to inquire into the matter.

Buxar SP Upendra Sharam said that it was a serious matter and the guilty whether he or she is a  police personnel or official or a common man would not be spared.

During interrogation, the arrested liquor smugglers Santosh Prasad and Vijay Kumar Tatawa of Dumrao in Buxar district revealed that the police took money from them at three points. Excise Superintendent, Buxar, Manoj Kumar Singh said that the constable might be dismissed if the charge was proved.

Quoting Vijay Kumar Tatwa, the Excise Superintendent said that prior to smuggling of liquor, the smugglers had a talk with police personnel on mobile. After their talk, the liquor smugglers started from Bharauli in Utter Pradesh with the liquor by giving Rs 500 to police personnel and proceeded to Dumrao. Again they had to grease the palm of the police personnel at Veer Kuer Singh Bridge and Dumrao police.

Buxar police also seized 161 bottles of IMFL from Chausa Gola under Buxar Muffassil police station on June 14 and arrested two liquor smugglers when they were carrying the liquor in a three- wheeler.
