Ara : Police, on a tip off, arrested an arms smuggler and also seized cache of arms from his possession at Ahile-Khiri village under Narayanpur police station in Bhojpur district on December 13, 2020, night.
The arrested arms smuggler was identified as Anuj Kumar Singh, son of late Ram Badan Singh of Dhruvdihara village under Charpokhari police station in Bhojpur district. Police seized 14 pistols of 7.65 mm caliber and 3 pistols of 9mm caliber, 34 magazines, one Tata Nexon Car, one Apache motorcycle, and an Oppo mobile phone from his possession and a car.
Bhojpur SP Har Kishore Rai said on December 14, 2020, that he got information that a youth was on way to Kamariya village via Ahile-Khiri village under Narayanpur police station in Bhojpur district on December 13, 2020, evening, to deliver arms to someone. He immediately formed a police team under the Piro SDPO Ashok Kumar Azad. The police team launched vehicle checking drive on Ahile-Khiri main road. Meanwhile, a youth from Ahile-Khiri village was seen approaching on motorcycle but seeing police force, he tried to escape. At this, police chased and caught him. Police also recovered 14 pistols of 7.65mm caliber from his possession and Apache motorcycle.
The SP stated that during interrogation, the arrested youth identified himself as Anuj Kumar Singh, son of late Ram Badan Singh of Dhruvdihara village under Charpokhari police station. He confessed before police that he was going to supply arms to Raj Kumar Singh, son of Kashi Nath, and Annu Devi wife of Raj Kumar Singh, at Kamaria village on the direction of his maternal uncle Jay Hari alias Punnu Singh of Karma village under Suryapura village in Rohtas district when police arrested him. He also revealed that Jay Hari alias Punnu Singh had come to his residence at Dhurvdihara on his Tata Nexon car and if police conduct raids, more arms might be seized.
On Anuj’s revelation, police immediately conducted raids at Dhruvdihara village and seized 3 pistols of 9mm caliber, 34 magazines, one Oppo mobile phone from the car. Police also seized the Tata Nexon car though Jay Hari alias Punnu Singh escaped from the place leaving the car behind.
The SP said that Annu Devi had been in jail earlier for arms supply and Jay Hari alias Punnu Singh is absconding in cases lodged against him with Bikramganj and Suryapura police stations in connection with murder and liquor smuggling. The SP said that police are investigating the case and also conducting raids to arrest other persons involved in the arms smuggling racket.
